This is one of the quickest, healthiest sweet snacks you can make. It combines healthy walnuts with the classic snickerdoodle flavors of cinnamon and sugar. You can serve this walnut snickerdoodle dip with apple slices, pear slices, strawberries, blueberries, graham crackers, and vanilla wafers to name a few.
My son was recently battling a viral infection and completely lost his appetite. I was making whatever he wanted to eat, just so he would actually get something in. I made this dip as a morning snack for my other kids and he wouldn’t stop eating it.
Yes, I will cut up another apple for you! Yes, you can eat this for breakfast, lunch, snack or anything in between! I was cracking up because he kept popping back in the kitchen to make sure there was more dip left.
That is my mark of a good snack recipe. One that’s healthy and begs to be eaten.
A handful of California walnuts is a versatile snack and can satisfy any taste preference, from savory to sweet. Regardless of your flavor preference, walnuts are the only nut to provide an excellent source of the plant-based omega-3, ALA (2.5g/oz).
While this makes an excellent sweet snack, it would be a perfect dip to serve at brunch alongside fresh cut fruit. Make sure to label it as containing walnuts for any potential food allergies since it isn’t glaringly obvious they’re in there. I know a few people with tree nut allergies, and, having to avoid gluten myself, I feel a heightened sense of labeling foods.
This walnut snickerdoodle dip is fairly straightforward and easy to make. A food processor makes quick work of chopping the walnuts to a fine paste, similar to coarse sand.
If you don’t have a food processor you can try a blender or a mini nut chopper. And if you don’t have access to those, chop by hand until very finely chopped.
