When I first became gluten free I noticed a lot of spice packets use wheat as a filler or thickener. Reading ingredient labels helped me notice other yucky things inside them, like MSG! Who needs that junk when you can make something healthier? Plus, you won’t have to guess what ‘natural flavoring’ or ‘artificial flavoring’ was used.
Taco seasoning mix is so easy to make. It took me a while to get the right spice combination, but I’ve landed on a recipe that we all enjoy. Making a larger batch and storing in an air-tight container is a great way to ensure you have some handy for a quick taco or burrito dinner.
If you like a little more kick to your meat, increase the amount of cayenne pepper. I’m kind of a wuss when it comes to spicy things and I seem to be raising three kids that share the same opinion, so notch it up if you can handle it!
